Caledon Valley Nursery, an independent owner-managed business, specialises in the production of apple trees for sale to growers in Southern Africa. The business has been in operation since 1992, when the first rootstock mother block was established on Braamhoek Farm.
The nursery is situated on the Caledon River in the Ficksburg district of the Eastern Free State. This part of South Africa has advantageous climatic conditions for the propagation of nursery trees, namely summer rainfall and early cold winters. The climate, fresh agricultural land, a reliable source of irrigation water and the use of nets all contribute to the making of tall, well-rooted, hardened-off trees, suitable for establishing high-density orchards with quick returns.
Our vision is not to grow more trees, but to growmore specific trees
